SAMPLE SUNDAY: (Garnier Clean+) Nourishing Cleansing Oil

I was very happy to receive this sample, seeing as how I use oil to cleanse my skin and my skin type is dry.
This is a pretty thick oil, and being a thick oil comes with both positives and negatives. The good thing about this is that because it’s thicker, it feels more moisturizing, and after it’s rinsed off, your skin doesn’t feel dried out. The bad thing about this is that because it’s so thick, it’s hard to tell if you rinsed it all off.

This turned out pretty well actually. It doesn’t beat the oil that I currently use but if I ever ran out of it and couldn’t find anymore, this oil would be a good secondary choice. It left my skin feeling soft and moisturized. And I didn’t have any irritations or breakouts.

I received this for free to do an honest review.

Name of box: Club Monthly
Type of box:
Monthly period subscription box
Price: $12, $15, or $18
Every one, two, or three months

The box was packed full to the top, there was definitely no wasted space. However, the box wasn’t taped securely enough. A flap was open at the top. I’m lucky that nothing fell out or was taken, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen to someone else. I suggest more tape. There’s no such thing as too much tape when it comes to packages.

As soon as I unpacked the box, I realized it was far too similar to E-Sentials. Almost a complete copy. Same razor brand, same ‘add a deodorant option’, same ‘tampons in a bag with a bow’.

When you go to the website, you’ll see three subscription options. The only choice you need to make is, do you want the $12 plan (which is only tampons or only pads), do you want the $15 plan (which is tampons[or pads] & 3 razors), or do you want the $18 plan (which is tampons[or pads], 3 razors, and a deodorant)imageJust worry about those basics for now because you can add more tampons/pads to your order once you’ve picked a plan.

Once you pick your plan, the next thing for you to do is customize your plan. I’m going to use the $18 plan for an example so you can see all the options available. No matter what plan you choose, you get to decide the brand, size, and what mixture of tampons and pads you want. You can also add up to 25 additional pads or tampons. Panty liners are also available for $1. When it comes to creating your mix, don’t use the little arrows ; it only adds by fives. Instead just type into each box.

As for the razors, they only have one brand, so there’s no choice there. But the deodorants have 10+ different options! After you’re done customizing your plan, you pick the day of the month you’d like the box to arrive.
The next step is checkout. At the moment, they only accept the above credit cards. I spoke to them about implementing Paypal and they thought it was a good idea, however.. I haven’t heard an estimate of when they’d look into it yet.

There’s nothing unique about this specific box. It’s just another plain subscription box, no frills. But like the other period subscription boxes, it is an easy way to get your monthly supplies without needing to remember or even leave the house.

The Jimin rumor is fake.

This girl was actually at the Stockholm fan meet as a staff member and she went to the Berlin fan meet. She was present throughout the hi-touch (where apparently a girl called Jimin fat & ugly) and said that this is a fake rumor and everyone was actually really nice.

Link to the exact moment in her video: Click

Can we kill this rumor now? We all know Jimin is perfection and anyone that thinks differently was obviously dropped on their head as a baby.

SAMPLE SUNDAY: (Etude House) SunPrise Natural Corrector

Like the sunscreen last Sunday, I tested this over top of my salicylic acid gel, but this time, I also put makeup on. When I try samples, I don’t usually look up ingredients or anything about the product; so I can get a completely fresh & genuine review, but I had to look this sunscreen up to find out what they meant by ‘Natural Corrector’.
It claims its benefits are whitening the skin, and improving wrinkles. I looked up those two ingredients and they’re legit, and highly rated. Link is here if you want to read about the whitening one. And if you’d like to read about the wrinkle one, you can go here.
The sunscreen is a pretty, peachy color and has no sunscreen smell at all. It has more of a makeup scent instead. When rubbed in, it does leave a slight white cast & shimmer. Both eventually fade. The formula is not sticky, it is more dry, and dries into the skin almost immediately.
This sample had enough for the face, neck, ears, top of hands, and one lower arm. I wore this from 1pm-10pm and experienced zero itching, breaking out, and my face never got greasy.
I really enjoyed this sunscreen and now that I know what great ingredients are in this, I love it even more. This is definitely a top contender for my new sunscreen.

SAMPLE SUNDAY: (TonyMoly) UV SUNSET Body & Family Sun Scream

I tested this over my salicylic acid gel (the gel didn’t seem to disrupt the sunscreen and the sunscreen didn’t seem to disrupt the gel, so you can definitely apply the sunscreen over other products) and left it on until I was ready for bed. It didn’t cause me to break out, itch, or irritate my skin in any way. Also, it did not make my pores look enlarged. This sample had just enough for the face, ears, neck, top of hands, and lower arms.

It doesn’t have a particular smell, it just smells like any regular sunscreen. When first applied, it feels sticky, but not a wet sticky, it’s more of a dry sticky. When it dries completely (takes about 15-30 mins), it feels dry, but you can tell you have something on your face when you push on your skin. The longer it sits on your skin, the less you can feel it. I noticed that later in the day, when it had been on my face for many hours, that when I rubbed my face, it didn’t feel like I had anything on it.

imageLike most sunscreen, it’s white when rubbed on, but it quickly blends into your skin and you can’t see it at all.

This seemed like a decent sunscreen, I wish I had another sample so I could test it out for a bit longer. I have an Etude House sunscreen for next week’s Sample Sunday, so we’ll see how that one compares.

Just received this small gift from Light In The Box. I’m going to do a review on them; though not any time soon unfortunately. If you look at my sidebar, I have a list of upcoming reviews, and I tend to go in the order they’re listed. If you look, you’ll notice that there are quite a few reviews ahead of Light In The Box. In the meantime, check them out. They’re very affordable.

By the way, my new lightbox arrived last night. This picture was taken inside of it. What do you think? I love it. Next on the list are lights. I should be buying them this week.

I thought I’d post this update so everyone knows what’s going on and why I’m not posting reviews as frequently. It’s because I’m working on upgrading!
I’m not happy with how the review pictures have been turning out lately so I’ve ordered a new lightbox (one that is also travel friendly), and I’ve been doing a ton of research on lighting so I can buy some lights and have proper lighting.

After the lightbox and lights arrive(in about two weeks or so), next on my list is a camera. This whole time, I’ve been using my cell phone camera; which works pretty great considering; but with a high quality camera, the reviews will look more professional overall. I’ve also been working on a new review layout, to make the reviews look more professional and to provide more information on the products. If anyone has any other suggestions for improvement, please tell me your ideas!

To summarize the review updates:

  • New lightbox
  • Proper lighting
  • High quality camera
  • New review layout

SAMPLE SUNDAY: (TonyMoly) Floria Moisture Body Lotion

I love this. It goes on so easily and hasn’t caused any reactions on my skin. It dries fairly quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling behind. I tried it on both of my hands and both of my elbows; and they feel so smooth and moisturized.
The lotion is very light and has a light floral scent that sticks around even after it’s applied and dry. It’s a faint scent, so it’s enjoyable, not overpowering in the slightest.
Because it did such a great job with just a small amount of product, there was plenty leftover, so I transferred the rest into a small container. It wasn’t until I transferred it into the container that I noticed the lotion had a pretty blue tint to it. I enjoyed this lotion, I would consider buying the full size.

SAMPLE SUNDAY: (TonyMoly) Panda’s Dream White Hand Cream

If this hand cream is meant to whiten your skin or give the illusion of brighter skin, it fails. It does absolutely nothing for your skin but turn it into an oil slick. I imagine this sample would last very long if you only used a tiny drop each time; that’s all you’d really need.
The formula of this hand cream is awful. It’s extremely thick, and not in a nice creamy way, but in a heavy, chunky way. And no matter how little you put on, your hands are extremely greasy, by appearance and feel, and it never dries. It’s sticky forever. I had to wash my hands three times to get almost all of it off. Even after I washed it all off, I still had a reaction to it; my hands started itching. It claims to have a fruity smell, I don’t think it does. It does have some kind of a fragrance to it, but it’s not fruity. It’s more floral.image
And here’s a wonderfully unflattering picture of my fingers so you can see how greasy the cream made me.

Here are the items I bought at NYC’s new TonyMoly:
Dear Me Waterful Cream
Dr. Tony AC Control Spot Patch
Prestige Snail Lip Treatment
Nail Basic #BS03 Nail Hardener

I’m testing the cream on half of my face right now, and I’m going to test it again tomorrow so that review will be written up and posted in two days. The rest of the items will be tested and reviewed after I’ve finished testing the cream.

And all the samples will each get their own post in Sample Review.

People kept walking by the front and ruining my pics and I was just very impatient and couldn’t wait to get in there, so these are the only pics I got. Also, the inside was VERY small, I had to constantly move to let people down the aisle because there was only room for one person at a time. I know my pics are crappy, but to be honest, I was way too preoccupied with getting inside and looking at all the stuff. If you want to see some great pics of the inside, check out fellow Asian beauty blogger Tracy’s post HERE

Just about every single item had a tester, which was very helpful. Two out of the four items I purchased were because there were testers available and I was able to see how the products performed.

If you’d like to visit the TonyMoly store, it’s in Koreatown on 32nd street; it’s on the same block as TheFaceShop/Kpop conjoined store.

So, I went to the TonyMoly that just opened in New York. I got a few things that I’ll be reviewing in their own separate posts and a ton of samples. I’ll be posting about it tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that.

Toothbrush Subscriptions

I received this for free to do an honest review.

Name of box: Toothbrush Subscriptions
Type of box:
Price: $3- $5
Frequency: Every one, two, or three months

The toothbrushes came in a small shipping bag. I feel like this is a waste of packaging since the toothbrushes take up hardly any space.
The toothbrushes were individually wrapped with their #FreshLife logo stamped on each one. They stamp a different word on each month’s toothbrush and the first word all customers receive is #FreshLife. I received ‘The Professional Toothbrush’ ($4) and ‘The Defender Toothbrush’ ($3).image

Toothbrush Subscriptions is a way to get your toothbrushes without having to leave the house or remember when it’s time to replace your current one. Surprisingly enough, a lot of people have no idea that you’re supposed to replace your toothbrush every three months, or if it’s in bad shape, before then.

At this point in my reviews, I would normally take some screenshots of the website to show you step by step what to do. However, I contacted them to inquire about missing products on their product page and they informed me that their website was under construction, but you can still order items. I’m going to check their website daily and wait until it’s updated, then I’ll add in the new screenshots in this area right here. Until then, here is what the site looks like and the items available.

You’ll come across an introduction video and a big button that says ‘Choose Your New Toothbrush’. At the top of the page, you can also click ‘Shop Toothbrushes’, and further down the page you can click ‘View Our Toothbrush Collection’ and ‘Get Started’. All of these buttons will take you to the same place.
imageLike I said, the products aren’t all listed right here because of the website construction taking place. Until the site is updated, you can go here: Click to see the list of products offered, but not displayed.

There’s nothing extra special here, it’s just a service based purely on a convenience factor. I would recommend the service only if it’s a hassle for you to get to the store or if you can never remember when it’s time to replace your toothbrush.

SAMPLE SUNDAY: (CHARMZONE) Snail Wrinkle Recover Neck Cream

I’ve decided to create a new review series called Sample Sunday where I will post a sample review every Sunday. The reason for this? If you’ve ever ordered Korean beauty products, you know first hand that you receive a ton of samples with each order; but what are you supposed to do with them all? Samples don’t require a lengthy review like a full size product would, but don’t you think they should have some form of a mention?
Sample Sunday is going to be a quick and easy way to review a sample without writing a super long post for it. I have already linked it in the review section of my blog so all the Sample Sunday posts can easily be found.

imageThis is supposed to be a wrinkle cream for your neck. I don’t have any wrinkles on my neck so I can’t tell you if this would make a difference on wrinkles. You don’t get much of a sample in this packet, more than half the packet is empty. If you really goop it on and completely soak your neck, you may get only two applications out of this. If you’re stingy, you could extend the sample to maybe three or four.

It has a pleasant smell similar to a lotion and the texture is smooth when it goes on. After it’s dried, your skin doesn’t feel sticky, but it does feel like you have something on there. I have extremely sensitive skin and I put a fair amount on my neck, and I’ve had no itching or burning whatsoever.
